Judges soccer teams compete in NCAA playoffs

Men's team eyes second national title, moving on to round three

For the first time in two years, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams have taken the field in the NCAA playoffs.

The men’s team had two wins and earned a spot in the Sweet 16. Playing at home before a large crowd, the men beat Husson College 3-0 on Saturday night. Jake Picard ’16 led the scoring with two goals and Michael Soboff ’15 also found the back of the net. On Sunday, the Judges edged Bowdoin College 1-0 on a tally by Brandon Miskin ’18. They will now take to the road to play Amherst College this Saturday, Nov. 22, 1:30 p.m. at State University of New York at Oneonta.

The women’s team’s playoff draw sent them to Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. They won their first round game on Saturday, beating Penn State Behrend 2-0 on goals by Cidney Moscovitch ‘17 and Holly Szafran ‘16. In the second round game on Sunday, they lost 2-1 against host Misericordia. Melissa Darling ‘16 scored for the Judges, who ended their season with a 13-5-2 record.
