The Brandeis University President’s Initiative on Antisemitism equips educational leaders — from middle and high schools to colleges, universities, and Jewish communal organizations — with the knowledge, pedagogical strategies, tools, and professional support needed to recognize, address, and effectively teach about antisemitism.

The Initiative:

  • Builds a strong foundation of understanding about contemporary antisemitism and its historical roots.
  • Cultivates communities of practice that expand professional networks dedicated to thoughtful inquiry.
  • Promotes sustainable policies and programs rather than isolated or reactive responses.
Founded in April 2023 amid rising antisemitism on U.S. campuses, the Initiative reflects Brandeis University’s mission to strengthen the Jewish community while upholding broader commitments to inquiry, human dignity, and institutional responsibility. Its goal is not simply to respond to Jew-hatred, but to empower educators to create environments where it is understood, confronted, and prevented — ensuring safe, inclusive campuses and classrooms.

Upcoming Programs

“Antisemitism is an enduring scourge that has been woefully understudied. Brandeis can refresh higher education’s role and response. Rooted in academic inquiry, Brandeis’ initiative on antisemitism will spur action and lasting change.”
