In 2014, Perry Traquina stepped down as chairman and CEO of Wellington Management Company after a 34-year career at the investment management firm, which managed more than $900 billion in client assets and had more than 2,200 employees in its 12 offices around the globe.
A member of the Brandeis University Board of Trustees since 2002, he served as board chair from 2013-16. He is currently chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Resources Committee.

The son of Portuguese immigrants who worked in blue-collar jobs, Traquina attended Brandeis with the help of scholarships and financial aid, majoring in economics and American studies. His classes taught him “to be a better thinker,” he has said. “I learned to see problems from a variety of different perspectives.”
As an undergraduate, he studied at the London School of Economics and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, graduating summa cum laude from Brandeis in 1978. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School two years later.
Traquina is a chartered financial analyst, a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research, and a trustee of the Winsor School in Boston.
