Transition from Building Cooling to Heating

Facilities Services has started the campus-wide transition from building cooling to heating. The system cannot heat and cool at the same time, so this transition is an important step in maintaining your comfort and conserving energy.

This transition will take up to two weeks to complete across the entire campus. During this two-week transition period, for part of each workday, building space temperatures may be cooler and/or warmer than normal. These deviations from normal space temperatures are typically a result of cool mornings followed by warmer afternoons. These short-term temperature deviations should stop once the weather turns consistently cool. To enhance comfort and conserve energy, the cooling in buildings is being turned off, and this may be followed by a period of no cooling or heating until the weather indicates that heating should begin.

It is University policy to maintain indoor temperatures from 68 to 71 degrees during heating season. If space temperatures are outside this range after the transition period, please submit a Service Request to Facilities Services or call us at 781-736-8500.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the transition.
