2026 Annual Campus Electrical Shutdown June 6 & June 7

May 5, 2026

As we enter the month of May, this is a reminder that the Department of Facilities Services will conduct its annual campus electrical shutdown on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Power will be shut off from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. Please note that restoration times may vary depending on the progress of the work. In previous years, power has been restored as early as 4:00 p.m.

This scheduled shutdown is necessary to allow Facilities Services to exercise and test critical equipment that supports the University’s electrical infrastructure.

What to Expect:
This testing is designed to verify proper operation of emergency power transfer systems. During testing, emergency circuits will briefly lose power, then be restored once generator power is transferred, and again when switching back to utility power.

The switches will remain on emergency power for approximately 5 to 30 minutes, depending on system time delays. There will be a brief power interruption when transferring to emergency power and again when returning to normal utility power.

Please note that equipment not connected to emergency power circuits will not be affected.
