Working with a truly global team of colleagues and professors from different academic perspectives. Getting to know my classmates and developing friendships with extremely intelligent people from a diverse range of backgrounds and career experiences.
Professors were very accommodating and understanding and took time to make sure I had a good handle on the material. I worked extensively with Prof. Judith Dean on a 40-page research paper, and the teaching assistant took time outside of class to basically teach me STATA to ensure I had the technical skills to complete the required analysis.
I developed a technical requirements document and analyzed the data architecture of a startup, which directly helped me with some of the data management and relational database design tasks that I now do at work. I also conducted an applied analysis of Chinese global value chain trade impacts as a result of the China-U.S. trade war and was able to apply those research methods by writing industry perspectives and eminence white papers for Deloitte. Both were extremely valuable experiences.
The faculty are incredible. They take the time to make sure that expectations are very clear despite the rigor of the program. Most importantly, they can be counted on for networking opportunities, as well as helping you gain specific extracurricular skills that are key in getting the job and career you want. I would also advise prospective students to take advantage of all of the services that the Career Strategies and Engagement Center has to offer.
