Why did you choose Brandeis International Business School?

I chose Brandeis International Business School because I was seeking a comprehensive master’s program to facilitate my transition from engineering to finance. Coming from an engineering background, I wanted a curriculum that would not only introduce me to the fundamentals of finance but also delve into advanced techniques and quantitative methods.

The faculty at Brandeis also played a crucial role in my choice. Their expertise and industry experience meant that I would be learning from professionals who are not only academics but also practitioners in the field. This blend of theory and practice was essential for me to gain a holistic understanding of finance.

How did your time at Brandeis prepare you for your career?

The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program not only equipped me with a solid foundation in finance — from fundamental principles to advanced analytical techniques — but also offered practical experiences that allowed me to apply my learning in real-world contexts.

Throughout my studies, I worked closely with faculty, industry professionals and a diverse cohort of classmates who broadened my perspective and sharpened my problem-solving skills. The school’s emphasis on critical thinking, data-driven analysis and effective communication gave me the confidence and versatility to tackle complex financial challenges. Working with people from diverse backgrounds also enhanced my interpersonal skills and broadened my global mindset, which is crucial in today's interconnected business environment.

What was the most memorable thing about the business school?

The most memorable part of my experience was the dynamic and internationally diverse community. Beyond the classroom, there were countless opportunities to connect with peers, alumni and industry professionals. The Career Strategies and Engagement Center organized alumni events that offered direct insights into various career paths and opened doors to valuable mentorships. Meanwhile, social gatherings like the Global Gala celebrated the school’s cultural richness and made networking fun and approachable. These events transformed the campus into a vibrant hub where I could share ideas, learn from different perspectives and form lasting friendships.

How would you describe the career support?

The career support at the International Business School is nothing short of exceptional. My dedicated Career Coach was consistently available for guidance, whether I needed clarity on my job search strategy, feedback on my resume, or a mock interview to build confidence and refine my communication skills. Beyond one-on-one coaching, the entire Careers team went above and beyond to assist with any challenges I faced. Their open-door policy meant I could reach out whenever I had a question or needed a sounding board for new ideas.

The career events at the business school were especially impactful. The Careers team organized numerous panels, industry meet-and-greets and company presentations, where I was able to connect with alumni and professionals from various sectors. These networking opportunities expanded my professional circle and exposed me to different career paths, market trends and insider perspectives.
