I chose Brandeis International Business School because of its fantastic student engagement and the FinTech concentration within the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program. I was also drawn to the many opportunities outside of the classroom, like the events sponsored by the Brandeis Consulting Association, Global Markets Investment Club, International Marketing Club and the Asper Center for Global Entrepreneurship. Staying engaged in these activities allowed me to utilize the concepts I learned in class in a dynamic, hands-on environment, which really allowed me to bridge the gap between theory and application.
My highlights include the Hassenfeld Immersion Program trip to India and competing in various business competitions hosted by Brandeis. The action-packed Hassenfeld trip combined memorable stops at global landmarks like the Taj Mahal with engaging visits at key business sites like the National Stock Exchange. Competitions like the Brandeis Consulting Association’s annual case competition allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and enhance my presentation and problem-solving abilities. Along the way, many of my peers at the International Business School became lifelong friends!
The MSF program at Brandeis offers a rigorous blend of traditional finance and modern analytics, which perfectly aligned with my interest in the evolving intersection of finance and technology. Through the FinTech concentration, I deepened my expertise in areas like Python-based financial modeling, data analytics using R and SQL, and risk management, while still gaining a strong foundation in corporate finance, investment theory and derivatives. The MSF program’s emphasis on both academic depth and practical application prepared me perfectly for the mix of analytics and strategy-related tasks that I’m now performing in my career.
The Career Strategies and Engagement Center team went out of their way to support me, both throughout my time at Brandeis and after graduation. I met with my Career Coach on nearly a weekly basis and she helped me navigate the complex landscape of the job search process. Through her help, I managed to perfectly match my resume to the career path I wanted and built my confidence through rigorous interview question prep. The Careers team at the International Business School also played a central role as I built up my network of Brandeis alumni, which resulted in several stellar connections that have helped me map out my future career trajectory.
Brandeis International Business School offers a highly collaborative, globally-minded environment with a strong emphasis on both academic rigor and practical skill-building. The curriculum is flexible enough to let you dive deep into areas like FinTech, asset management or analytics, while still building a solid foundation in core finance and economics. Professors are accessible and bring real-world experience into the classroom, and the small class sizes allow for meaningful discussion and connection. Plus, there are great leadership and networking opportunities through student clubs and Industry Treks. It’s a place where you’re encouraged to lead, experiment and grow both technically and professionally. I encourage every incoming student to make it a priority to get involved early on, as it all seems to fly by in the blink of an eye.
Brandeis helped me connect the world of traditional finance with modern analytics. The MSF program, especially with the FinTech concentration, gave me hands-on experience with industry-standard technical tools, while also sharpening my ability to think critically and communicate insights effectively. Beyond the classroom, serving as president of the Brandeis Consulting Association gave me the chance to strengthen my leadership and collaboration skills through hosting the annual case competition. The mix of technical training, strategic thinking and team leadership has served as a strong foundation for my career in data-driven finance and fraud analytics.
