Brandeis International Business School

Jasmyne Raneri, MBA’22: Jolie Schwab ’78 and David Hodes ’77 Scholarship

Jasmyne Raneri
Why did you choose Brandeis International Business School?

I chose Brandeis International Business School because of the global nature of the MBA program and the multicultural atmosphere at Brandeis. It has an outstanding reputation, excellent instructors and noteworthy alumni. The Hassenfeld Immersion Program was also a major selling point for me, since I would like to have experience in a business setting outside of the United States. I felt from the very first day that I expressed interest, staff were available and willing to help me every step of the way.

What kind of work or research are you interested in?

I founded and currently run the foreign language branch of an adult education institute in downtown Boston, so I am very interested in linguistic education, academic management and international relations. However, I also have a strong interest in artistic pursuits such as painting and sculpting, and I hope to utilize my MBA to monetize my artistic practices as well as those of other artists.

What are your career goals?

I plan to expand my current business, Language Hub, over the next two years. Once I have proven the profitability of the Boston location, I will propose the addition of the branch at FLS International satellite schools in California and New Jersey. I hope that being a part of the Brandeis community will give me further direction in setting my ultimate goals while giving me the opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs from varied backgrounds who will provide me with unique perspectives and insights into my business endeavors.

What are you most proud of in your academic or professional life?

The path that led me here was a winding one, but I'm proud to have finally taken this step and that I'm continuing to push myself outside of my comfort zone in order to grow and make the most of my time here.

“When I learned that I had been fortunate enough to receive this scholarship, I felt as if a million doors had suddenly sprung open and that the opportunities were now limitless.”
