Brandeis International Business School

Pablo Castro, MSF’21: Robert Sherman Memorial Endowed Fellowship

Pablo CastroWhy did you choose Brandeis International Business School?

I got the opportunithy through a dual degree agreement with the university where I started my master's program in Colombia (Universidad EAFIT).

What kind of work or research are you interested in?

I am very interested in general finance, which is my concentration. I am also very interested in corporate finance roles such as investment banking, private equity venture capital and financial planning.

What are your career goals?

Find a job in the U.S. related with my career and professional interests in corporate finance in any of the industries mentioned above.

What do you enjoy most about being at Brandeis?

I've learned so many skills from my time at Brandeis. For example, I just took the course Information Visualization where we learned software skills in Tableau. I ended up using that software for an interview a few weeks later.

What are you most proud of in your academic or professional life?

I am proud that I have been able to tackle any challenging situation life has put in my way. For instance, in the first semester I batted depression and no matter how difficult it was, I tackled it and here I am in my last semester and graduating soon.

What impact has the Robert Sherman Memorial Endowed Fellowship had on your education?

My fellowship has significantly impacted my Brandeis experience, since I did not worry about my last semester’s tuition fee, which helped me to reduce my financial stress and focus on my studies. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it and not having this concern in such a challenging and uncertain situation triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled me to improve my academic performance.

“The thing I enjoyed the most was studying in such a diverse environment. I had the opportunity to make friends from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Venezuela, China, El Salvador and India.”
