What kind of work or research are you interested in?

My area of concentration is finance with a dual focus in Corporate Finance and Asset Management. I am interested in all aspects of the investment decision process, both in public markets and private markets, and most of the courses that I have taken at Brandeis are directly or indirectly related to the art of investing.

Research topics undertaken include publishing brand valuation of Kellogg Company (NYSE: K) in International Journal of Education and Management Studies, and back-testing 2+ value investing strategies (Magic Formula & Piotroski F-score) to assess suitability for alpha generation (BS Finance Thesis paper).

What are your career goals?

Immediately after building my technical skills post completion of the MSF program at Brandeis, I look forward to working at the sell-side for a few years in investment banking, specifically in the mergers and acquisitions group. I hope to eventually leverage this work experience at the sell-side to transition to a buy-side role at a private equity mega fund, such as KKR, Blackstone and Carlyle.

In the long-run, I envision myself starting an impact-investing firm mainly focusing on clean energy, healthcare and education to generate social and environmental impact in India and other underserved markets across the globe. This avenue provides an opportunity for a financial enthusiast like me to give back to society while using my financial knowledge.

What do you enjoy most about being at Brandeis?

I enjoyed the ability to gain a world-class education from faculty who are often prominent industry practitioners and the best in their fields. Having a diverse student population has allowed me to meet people from across the world and learn more about different cultures. Brandeis also provided platforms for me to build strong industry connections by attending events on and off campus, like guest lecturer visits, panel discussion and Industry Treks.

What are you most proud of in your academic or professional life?

As a part of my summer internship and now part-time job, I recently closed my first transaction as an investment banker. I was involved from beginning to end as the only analyst on a sell-side M&A deal, and was solely responsible for executing all aspects of the deal. I was working at a small firm and was given an immense amount of responsibility on the deal. I am incredibly proud of gaining this transaction experience at a young age despite still being a student.

“COVID-19 has largely affected the financial situation of my family, and the fellowship made it much more practical for my family to support me in these difficult times. This financial security provided me an opportunity to make the most of my experience at Brandeis and focus on achieving my goals without any stress of financing my education, which otherwise may have affected my performance.”
