Brandeis International Business School

Tumennast Baatar, MBA’22: Peter Petri Global Fellowship

Tumennast Baatar
Why did you choose Brandeis International Business School?

I chose the Brandeis International Business School MBA due to its flexible curriculum, which enables me to simultaneously focus on Finance and Strategic Management. In addition to the unique course offerings, I am compelled by the school’s wealth of hands-on resources on collaborating with both well-established and startup businesses.

What kind of work or research are you interested in?

I am planning to concentrate on Finance and Strategic Management. I am interested in strategic management, especially in creating and sustaining a compelling competitive advantage while maintaining healthy earnings. Moreover, I research value creation and overarching strategic planning methods such as Blue Ocean Strategy and Balanced Scorecard. Currently, in the Marketing Management course, I am doing a project on enhancing and sustaining the value proposition of Netflix.

What are your career goals?

My short-term career goal is to work at a management consulting firm in the department of strategy advisory services. I am also interested in strategic planning or financial planning in tech or financial services firms.

What are you most proud of in your academic or professional life?

When I was working as a product manager at ITZone company, in collaboration with my fellow workers, I developed Mongolia’s first consumer electronics brand and made it the second-largest brand in the local market.

“The Petri Fellowship not only relieves my financial burden, but also gives me and my fellow students an opportunity to collaboratively create value in the business field.”
