Janice Lerner Bolaffi and Andre Bolaffi ’53 have been married for 61 years and live in San Francisco. Janice reports that as a physiologist/endocrinologist she “flunked” retirement twice but is now completely retired from the academic/scientific research world. Andre is only 99 percent retired after a long and distinguished career as a food technologist. Janice is involved in local politics, and Andre takes part in emergency-response activities. Bernice Rose, P’75, P’77, P’81, P’83, continues to travel to Brandeis several times a week for Osher Lifelong Learning classes. Her husband, Charlie, enjoys playing bridge. Their children live nearby. Their granddaughter Becca, the daughter of Alan Rose ’77, will be married in August. Robert “Tex” Samuels and his wife, Annette, celebrated their 60th anniversary. They took their three kids, the kids’ spouses and nine grandchildren to a villa high above Italy’s Lake Como for a family vacation. Bob was made an honorary citizen of the Carmel Coast in Israel. Lila Liebman Stern, P’86, and her husband, Burt, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in April. After graduation, Lila worked with Burt in the family business before becoming a travel agent. They have three daughters; the youngest, Julie Stern Dorfman ’86, was a star softball pitcher at Brandeis. Lila writes, “Brandeis was four great years and prepared me for a life of learning.” The Joan Schlosberg Weinstein ’54 Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Joan by Herbert and Barbara Goldberg, P’75, and their daughter Debra Faye Goldberg ’75. Barbara is Joan’s sister. Joan’s husband, Bob, made a substantial gift, and encourages Joan’s classmates and other Brandeis friends to support the fund. For more information or to make a gift, contact Lisa Fleischman in the Institutional Advancement Division at 781-736-4062 or lfleisch@brandeis.edu.
