Brandeis faculty promoted, awarded tenure

The Board of Trustees approved tenure for 14 faculty members at its April and May meetings

Twelve Brandeis faculty have achieved tenure this spring with approval from the Brandeis University Board of Trustees at its January, April and May meetings. Eleven were promoted to associate professor with tenure, and one newly appointed as professor with tenure, arriving this summer. The Board also approved the promotions of six tenured faculty to the rank of full professor.

“These faculty members carry on the Brandeisian traditions of producing consequential research across all fields of study, along with an eagerness to connect with undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory and field work,” President Ron Liebowitz said. “I congratulate each professor on achieving tenure and express my gratitude for their contributions to Brandeis.”

Cameron Anderson, promoted associate professor of theater arts with tenure

  •   Expertise: scenic design for opera and theater 

Eva Bellin, Myra and Robert Kraft Professor of Arab Politics, promoted to professor with tenure

  •   Expertise: Middle East politics 

Olivier Bernardi, promoted to professor of mathematics with tenure

  •   Expertise: combinatorics, algorithmics, probability and statistical mechanics

Sandra Cha, promoted to associate professor of organizational behavior with tenure

  •   Expertise: diversity management, values-driven leadership, organizational behavior 

Erin Gee, promoted to associate professor of music with tenure

  •   Expertise: composition, theory and analysis, performance 

 Leah N. Gordon, promoted to associate professor of education with tenure

  •   Expertise: education, race, class, gender, intellectual history, 20th century U.S. history

Angela Gutchess, promoted to associate professor of psychology with tenure

  •   Expertise: Effects of age and culture on memory, cognitive and social neuroscience 

Jennifer Gutsell, promoted to associate professor of psychology with tenure

  •   Expertise: social and affective Neuroscience, social interactions, social perception

Matthew Headrick, promoted to professor of physics with tenure

  •   Expertise: theoretical high-energy and gravitational physics, string theory, quantum field theory, general relativity, quantum gravity 

Lynn Kaye, promoted to associate professor of Rabbinic literature and thought with tenure

  •   Expertise: Rabbinic literature and thought, theories of time, Judaism in late antiquity, Jewish law, literary, critical and legal theories.

Isaac Krauss, promoted to professor of chemistry with tenure

  •   Expertise: organic synthesis, chemical biology, glycobiology, vaccines 

Adrianne Krstansky, promoted to professor of theater arts with tenure

  •   Expertise: acting, improvisation, collaborative process 

Pascal Menoret, Renée and Lester Crown Professor of Modern Middle East Studies, promoted to associate professor with tenure

  •   Expertise: urban anthropology, infrastructure, postcolonial studies, protest politics, Islamic movements, Arabian peninsula, the Middle East

Hannah Weiss Muller, promoted to associate professor of history with tenure

  •   Expertise: Britain and the British Empire

Leah Wright Rigueur, promoted to associate professor of history with tenure

  •   Expertise: 20th century U.S. political history, 20th Century African American history and politics, the modern American presidency, race; politics, policies, political ideologies, and political institutions, civil rights, social movements

Timothy Street, promoted to associate professor of biochemistry with tenure

  •   Expertise: protein folding and misfolding, molecular chaperones, Insulin family of growth factors

Jonathan Touboul, promoted to associate professor of mathematics with tenure

  •   Expertise: applied Mathematics, models in neuroscience, ecology, embryonic development, dynamical systems, probability and stochastic processes.
