New Undergraduate Student Orientation

Meet Your Orientation Leaders!

Orientation Leaders (OL's) will serve as your guides to Brandeis! You will receive an email from your assigned OL prior to your arrival, but you are welcome to reach out to any of the OL's with questions. When you arrive on-campus, you will join your Orientation group (your OL and some of your peers) for portions of the Orientation program. Don't hesitate to ask the OL's questions you have about Brandeis!

My favorite thing about Brandeis is the sense of community on campus. The faculty, staff, and students all contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment that makes me feel at home. I also appreciate the wide range of opportunities for involvement, from clubs and organizations to research and internships. Brandeis truly fosters a supportive and vibrant community that encourages growth and personal development.

Something I wish I knew when I started my Brandeis journeyGo to events! This isn't to say that you NEED to go to every event on campus, but it's a nice way to make friends who have similar interests as you or just find hobbies to de-stress from school work (for me, this would be the Brandeis Pottery Club).

Something I wish I knew before I started my Brandeis journey: Yes, there are a million things to do at Brandeis and it seems like every student is involved in at least ten things, but pick a passion and dedicate yourself to it. Try and avoid the pressure to overcommit which may lead to feeling spread thin; instead, do what brings you joy and/or intrigue.

Something I wish I knew before I started my Brandeis journey: I wish I knew that I was going to figure it all out. I was so worried when getting to Brandeis that I wouldn't make friends, or find clubs that I liked, or that I'd struggle in my classes. I spent so much time overthinking what could go wrong that I didn't give myself time to be excited over everything that could go so well. I wish I had known before coming to Brandeis that I'd find my people, and that classes could easily be changed, and that there were so many clubs I'd have a hard time fitting everything I wanted to do into my schedule.

Something I wish I knew when I started my Brandeis journey: The number of majors/minors you have does not matter! It is so easy to get pulled into overloading your plate with several classes just to get to a certain number of majors or minors. Through these last 3 years, I've really learned that in the grand scheme of things, what matters more in the workplace are the experience and skills you gain inside and outside of the classroom.
