Holidays and Summer Schedules

Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to take a moment to update you on summer holidays and flex time this summer:
I have approved two discretionary closings for the university. On Friday, May 25, the university will close at 2 p.m. in advance of the Memorial Day holiday on the following Monday. On Tuesday, July 3, the university will close at 2 p.m., in advance of the July 4th holiday. Our hope is that staff members will be able to use these extended holiday periods to enjoy time with family and friends.
In addition, as in past years, managers may adopt flexible hours for staff, where possible, starting June 11 and continuing through August 17. Because our campus is open with programs and classes all summer, flex time may be approved by managers only as long as the work commitments of each department or unit are fully met and departments are kept operational to provide service five days a week. Adoption of a flexible schedule option for particular staff members is subject to the approval of each staff member's supervisor.
