Announcing the Toshizo Watanabe International Scholarship Program

Nov. 14, 2018

Dear Brandeis Community,

I am pleased to share that Brandeis has received a remarkable gift that will provide scholarships to students from Japan to study at Brandeis. Toshizo “Tom” Watanabe ’73 has given $10 million to Brandeis to establish the Toshizo Watanabe International Scholarship Program. Mr. Watanabe came to Brandeis through a scholarship from our pioneering Wien International Scholarship Program, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and credited this scholarship with making his success possible.

The gift is the largest that Brandeis has ever received from an international graduate in the university’s history.

We are deeply grateful to Mr. Watanabe for his generosity, and we look forward to welcoming Watanabe International Scholars to our campus.

Sincerely,

Ron in handwritten script
