Administrative News — Student Affairs
July 23, 2020
Dear Members of the Brandeis Community,
I am writing to inform you of changes in the Division of Student Affairs, which will help us in our ongoing efforts articulated in the Framework for the Future to enhance the student experience at Brandeis. As of August 1, 2020, Raymond Ou will report directly to me as vice president of Student Affairs; Jessica Basile, assistant dean of Graduate Student Affairs, and Lauren Haynie, director of Athletics, will report to Raymond within the Division of Student Affairs.
Since 2017, we have made significant progress in understanding and articulating how we might improve the out-of-class student experience and better integrate it with academic life on campus. As we prepare to continue implementing key Framework initiatives in the coming years — both within student life and across the academic program — these upcoming changes in the Division of Student Affairs will help facilitate creative problem-solving, increase collaboration, and streamline operations.
I am confident that, under Raymond's leadership and in cooperation with the provost and the deans of the individual schools, the Division of Student Affairs will continue to advance our commitment to a coordinated academic and co-curricular student experience at Brandeis.
I want to thank everyone within the student affairs division for their hard work and commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive undergraduate and graduate student experience at Brandeis. And I want to express my gratitude to Provost Lisa Lynch for her excellent supervision of this division so that we are prepared to make this organizational change in support of our Framework goals.
Sincerely,
Ron
