Announcing Gannit Ankori as Director and Chief Curator of The Rose

December 15, 2020

Dear Brandeis Community,

I am pleased to announce that Gannit Ankori, Professor of Fine Arts and Chair in Israeli Art, Department of Fine Arts and Schusterman Center for Israel Studies, has been named the Henry and Lois Foster Director and Chief Curator of the Rose Art Museum, effective Jan. 1. Gannit has ably served as interim Director and Chief Curator since June, and I am confident in her vision for and leadership of The Rose going forward.

As you will read in the official announcement, Gannit was the founding head of our Division of Creative Arts, and has been deeply involved with The Rose since arriving at Brandeis a decade ago. She is an internationally-recognized expert on modern and contemporary art, and has conducted groundbreaking research into the work of Frida Khalo. Here at Brandeis, Gannit has been a leader in arts scholarship and teaching.

I know you will join me in congratulating Gannit on taking on the role permanently.

Sincerely,

Ron Liebowitz
