A Terrific 75th!

Oct. 17, 2023

Dear Brandeis Community,

What a terrific 75th celebration we hosted this past weekend! It might just qualify Brandeis as a "party" school (though probably not).

Jessica and I enjoyed every moment of this weekend's 75th anniversary celebration. So many staff members devoted hours and hours to making this weekend run smoothly, and we thank all of them, and you, who participated in it. During a very difficult time for many of us, more than 3,000 Brandeisians showed up to campus with enthusiasm, school spirit and pride in our community.

The highlights of the weekend were many. Our remarkable faculty engaged our always inquisitive alumni, families, friends and local community members on a broad range of topics. We heard about trailblazing science for which Brandeis is well known, about the enduring contributions of our alumni to the world across many professions, about the role Brandeis played in the remarkable careers of our graduates, about the leading role of the Jewish community in our story, and about our history of openness and inclusion. We saw the inauguration of the Brandeis alumni art gallery and we recognized a visionary and pathbreaking business leader as we presented this year's Perlmutter Award.

The tailgate party and soccer games drew huge crowds; the Student Showcase featured many of our talented student artists; the Spingold Theater Center was packed for their performances. At the Diamond Celebration on Saturday evening, we feted our inspiring Alumni Achievement Award winners, presented the Sachar Award to renowned journalist Judy Woodruff and, of course, danced the night away with the best band around.

All told, we were refreshed and fulfilled by the palpable sense of pride in the institution — a necessary ingredient for long-term success.

Thank you again for helping make this celebration and community special. It was great to be with you this past weekend.

Sincerely,
Ron Liebowitz
