Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies
Every day we are saturated with media messages, and we are challenged to communicate and understand more than ever before.
As a student majoring in Communication and Media Studies you’ll engage in the theory and practice of communication: message creation, form and content; technologies and channels of delivery; reception and interpretation; and the larger impact on our society and culture. Through this interdisciplinary course of study, you’ll gain a critical understanding of interpersonal communication as well as the social and cultural context of mass and social media.
Launching in fall 2026, the Communication and Media Studies major will also enable students to pursue a number of other disciplines through a double major or minor such as sociology, anthropology, the arts, English, computer science; Film, Television and Interactive Media Studies; journalism and others. Graduates will be well-prepared to pursue graduate studies or careers in an array of fields, including the arts and entertainment industries, marketing and public relations, or advocacy and policy work.
