Shadows of Empire: How Post-Imperial Successor States Shape Memories

Dr. Joshua W. WalkerJunior Research Fellow at the Crown Center and a fellow at the German Marshall Fund based in Washington, DC.

Dr. Joshua Walker presented his recently defended dissertation and current book project in which he laid out an argument and framework for understanding the evolution of successor states like Japan and Turkey. Dr. Walker's research highlighted the interaction between international structural constraints in the aftermath of empire and the resulting domestic political landscape in metropolis successor states.
