Latin American and Latino Studies Program

Economic, political and cultural relations between the Americas and the growing importance of the Latino presence in the USA have made Latin American and Latino Studies crucial fields of inquiry for numerous disciplines.

Brandeis University offers students the opportunity to examine South America, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and the Latin American diaspora in the United States through interdisciplinary study in eight university departments. By adding the possibilities of Boston-area internships and study abroad, this wide variety of courses and experiences will prepare our majors and minors for careers in various fields relating to Latin America.

Our new name: We have changed our name from Latin American Studies to the Latin American and Latino Studies Program. This change reflects the hemispherical and transnational nature of our program that includes countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and their diaspora in the USA.

Universalismo Constructivo, Bs. As. : Poseidón, 1941]
