Debby Kaplan Polivy ’72 is pleased to announce that her new book, Donor Cultivation and the Donor Lifecycle Map: A New Framework for Fundraising, was published by John Wiley and Sons this November. 

Jill Cohen '82 completed her term as president of Seattle's Congregation Beth Shalom in May 2011 and remains active as immediate past president. After living with metastatic breast cancer and as an early "retiree" for more than 10 years, she's looking forward to another volunteer project (something that was challenging when working full time as a Jewish communal professional). Her Balkan women's choir, Dunava, released its second CD in May 2012. Jill still dances as often as possible.

Anne Meirowitz ’87 is currently the Administrative Director of the transdenominational Rabbinical School of Hebrew College in Newton, MA. Both she and her husband will be retiring in June 2014. They are currently the thrilled grandparents of one grandson, and (God willing) will have two more before the end of 2013. They have already moved into a retirement community and are loving their lives there.

Leah Lightman '83 and husband Dr. Hylton Lightman celebrated the Bas Mitzvah of their daughter Yaira Sheina; became grandparents to Menachem, son of Aryeh and Rafaella Greenfield, and celebrated at the June 9th wedding of their daughter Naava to Eric Keehn.

David Chivo ’96 has accepted the newly created position of North America Director for Beit Hatfutsot: The Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv. His wife, Julie Chivo ’99 is the Development Coordinator at the Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle.,

Michael Silbert ’96 obtained his ordination as a rabbi from the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College in Massachusetts and is now Executive Director and Chaplain of the Hillel at the University of Rochester.

Rachel Canar ’00 has been living in Israel since 2006 when she became Development Director of the Israel Religious Action Center, working with Anat Hoffman. In 2012 she gave birth to miracle baby Ella. She is now a consultant at Minuf where she assists Israeli NGOs in organizational development, fundraising, and strategic planning. Rachel is also teaching a basic fundraising course for English speakers new to the field.

Rachel Happel ‘02 left Brandeis at the end of the summer to start a new position as Director of Elementary Learning at Temple Beth Shalom Needham.

Michael Anderson ’04 is now the Midwest Synagogue Initiative Director at AIPAC.

Sean Mandell ’04 is the founder and a consultant at Constellation Consult.

Rabbi Roni Handler ’05 is pleased to announce the birth of daughter Dahlia Pearl deKonick Handler. She was born on April 16 2013 weighing 7lbs 8 oz. Roni, who lives in Pennsylvania, recently ran into Hornstein graduate Ira Blum ’13, who is now working at University of Pennsylvania Hillel. It really is a very small world - as it turns out, Ira’s dad was Roni’s rabbi growing up!

Joshua Lipshitz ’05 is now Director of Development at Jewish High School of Connecticut.

Caroline Musin Berkowitz ’05 has been working as Director of Volunteers and Outreach at The ARK since April 2012. This is a social service agency that provides free medical, dental, and social services to Chicagoland Jews in need. She works with hundreds of volunteers to organize and implement regular and seasonal projects, provide tours to individuals and groups, and share The ARK's mission throughout the community. 

On August 1, 2013, she and husband, Neil, welcomed their first child, Shira Zahava Berkowitz who Caroline reports is an exquisite little person who brings joy and sleep deprivation to them every day and night!

Jodie Parnes Parmer ‘06 and Daniel Parmer ’08 announce the birth of their son on July 24, 2013.,

Eric Fleisch ’08 and Rebecca Hartman ’09 welcomed their new son Emmet Michael Fleish who was born on May 26, 2013 weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz.,

Jason Harris '08 is excited about his new position as Birthright Experience Program Manager for the San Francisco Jewish Federation. He's doing leadership training, connecting participants with post-trip opportunities, staffing trips, and working with a great team.

Isaac Rothbart ’09 and Jessica Levine Rothbart ’10 moved to New York where Isaac is now the Director of Finance at the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York. Jessica is the Project Manager, Congregational Learning at the Jewish Education Project.,

Mimi Garcia ’10 is now the Texas State Director of Enroll America.

Noam Gilboord ’10 is pleased to announce his marriage to Liav Shapiro on May 19th 2013 in Briarcliff Manor, New York. He is currently Director of Community Strategy, JFNA/JCPA Israel Action Network in New York.

Hannah White ’10 is pleased to announce her marriage to Jonathan Pearlman on May 19, 2013.

Nir Buchler ’11 welcomed his second daughter, Abigail Ori Buchler on October 15, 2013. She joins big sister Emma Sarah. He recently began a new job as a Development Officer at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, Florida.

Kara Mintzberg ‘11 married Josh Gibbons in August 2013 at the Vancouver Hillel House at UBC - on the roof! - in a warm and lively ceremony shared with friends and family from near and far. Josh and Kara met when she interviewed him for Taglit-Birthright during her work at the Vancouver Hillel Foundation - a great journey indeed!

Tamar Moskowitz ’11 began a new job as Director of Volunteers at Westchester Jewish Community Services in White Plains, NY.

Tzvi Raviv ’11 has moved to Michigan with his wife, Ariella where he joined the Strategic Communications Center (SCC) as Director of partnerships. The goal of the SCC is to shape public opinion favorable of Israel. In a way, the SCC is an ad agency on behalf of the Israeli people. Tzvi says that this position provides him the opportunity to combine the knowledge and skills learned at the Hornstein Program and the Heller School.

Tzvi and Ariella are also pleased to welcome their new daughter, Hadassa Vered, born in November.

Kelly Ward (Lior Krinsky) ’11 and husband Jesse Krinsky moved to New York where she is the Regional Director at Jerusalem U.

Matthew Feinberg ’12 has recently returned to Brandeis as a Data Manager with JData.

Jennifer Kirsch ’12 is now Breast Cancer Nurse Coordinator at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

Ellie Klein ’12 recently moved to San Francisco with her family and is now Outreach Specialist at Jewish Community High School of the Bay.

Yael Kletter Keller ’12 and husband, Will, recently welcomed a new daughter.

Jessica Lowenthal ’12 got engaged on December 1, 2013 to Phil Weber.

Madeline Mayer ’12 recently returned to her hometown of Kansas City and is now an Assistant Account Executive at marketing company, GlynnDevins.

Ira Blum ‘13 is now the Director of Student Life an UPenn Hillel.

Yana Drozdovski ’13 is pleased to announce her marriage to Isaac (Tzachi) Chazan. The wedding took place in June in Israel. Yana is now the Program Manager at Brandeis Genesis Institute for Russian Jewry.

Dara Freedman-Weiss ’13 has accepted a position as Project Specialist, Measurement and Reporting at Combined Jewish Philanthropies in Boston.

Melissa Goraj ’13 is an Assurance Associate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers working in Private Company Services. She is also on the budget and finance committee at JFS MetroWest.

Sammuth (Ira) Krakhman ’13 is now the National Program and Donor Relations Coordinator at American Friends of the Hebrew University in New York.

Daniel Shulman ’13 has a new job as Planned Giving Officer at Jewish Federation of Broward County.

Tslil Shtulsaft ’13 is now the Assistant Director at Hillel at Cornell.

Yana Tolmacheva ’13 is now the Program Coordinator for Israel and International Partnerships at Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston.
