University community gathers together for annual "Messiah Sing"

It's a sure sign of the holiday season when the Brandeis community gathers together in the Shapiro Campus Center for the annual "Messiah Sing."  The Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra and University Chorus recently led students, staff, faculty, family and friends in the annual sing-along featuring Handel's masterwork "Messiah." BrandeisNOW talked with conductor Neal Hampton and graduate student and "Messiah Sing" participant Gil Harel about what makes this university tradition so special.

As part of the festivities, the Waltham Group, the university's volunteer community service organization, collected non-perishable food items for local food banks and shelters, while Dining Services staff collected donations for Toys for Tots. Collections will continue at locations across campus through Thursday, Dec. 18.
