March 3 forum to examine the electoral success of Sen. Barack Obama

The Brandeis Spotlight forum series presents an examination and analysis of the electoral success of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

WHO: Ibrahim Sundiata, the Samuel and Augusta Spector Professor of History; Jacqueline Jones, the Truman Professor of American Civilization; Mingus Ulysses Mapps, assistant professor of African and Afro-American Studies and Politics; and Peniel Joseph, associate professor of African and Afro-American Studies.  

WHAT: Faculty specialists on race, gender and politics will comment on the electoral successes of Sen. Obama, and discuss whether – following a century in which the Color Line was a major feature of our society – we now are seeing the emergence of a new, post-racial order.
