Heller School to host philanthropy discussion tonight
Nov. 19, 2008
Widely respected writer on civil society will speak at the Heller School
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Michael Edwards, former Ford Foundation executive and Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos in New York, will be the keynote speaker at an event on Thursday, Nov. 20 sponsored by the Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy.
Edward's recent book on business-inspired philanthropy has created a vigorous public debate, in the face of "a tsunami of pro-business thinking." Providing counterpoint to Edwards' perspective, will be Joanna Jacobson, former president of the Keds Corporation and founder and managing partner of Strategic Grant Makers, a coalition of 13 Boston-based family foundations, and Professor Andrew Hahn of the Heller School and director of the Sillerman Center. The panel will be moderated by Heller School Dean Lisa Lynch.
The event begins with a reception in the Zinner Forum in the Irving Schneider Family Building at the Heller School at 5 p.m. The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Please RSVP to Sarah Schwartz at sarahbs1@brandeis.edu.
