Brooke Rosenbauer '09 using soccer to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS
Brooke Rosenbauer '09 is mixing her passion for soccer with a mission of social justice. As a volunteer for Grassroot Soccer, Rosenbauer uses soccer as a catalyst to educate young people about the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa.
On Saturday, Sept. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m., Brandeis will host a "Lose the Shoes" 3v3 barefoot soccer tournament on Chapels Field with all proceeds benefiting Grassroot Soccer, an international NGO that works throughout Africa to train professional soccer players, coaches and other community role models to deliver a soccer based HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum to adolescents in after school programs.
As BrandeisNOW reports, Rosenbauer has gained just as much as she has given to this mission.
