Not only does the crisis in Gaza and southern Israel entail the loss of innocent Palestinian and Israeli lives, it may produce a traumatic blow to the peace process, to future chances for reconciliation, and to moderate stances altogether. In addition, the crisis holds the potential to change dramatically the dynamics among Hamas, Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and regional states.
The tragic implications for Israelis and Palestinians of the current clashes will be the topic of a discussion sponsored by Brandeis’ Crown Center for Middle East Studies in Rapaporte Treasure Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Dr. Amaney Jamal, assistant professor of political science at Princeton, and professor Shai Feldman, Judith and Sidney Swartz Director of the Crown Center, will present the Palestinian and Israeli narratives, respectively, and lead the discussion, which will be moderated by professor Robert Art, Christian A. Herter Professor of International Relations at Brandeis.
In this video, Shai Feldman, who has just returned from Israel, shares a few thoughts on the Israel-Hamas war and what to expect from Wednesday's forum.
