Film screening: "Kinderland ist abgebrannt" [Kinderland-Cinderland]

In memory of the 'Kristallnacht' pogrom of 1938 the Center for German and European Studies will host two events during the week of November 9, 2010:

On Wednesday, November 10, German Filmmaker Sibylle Tiedemann will show her award-winning film "Kinderland ist abgebrannt" [Kinderland-Cinderland; German with English subtitles] from 7:30 - 9 p.m. in the Wasserman Cinematheque.

The filmmaker, who has just been awarded an Obermayer German Jewish Community History Award, will be available for conversation after the screening. There will also be a reception following the screening.

Tiedemann's film documents the reunion of former classmates at the school attended also by Sophie School [The White Rose] in the Southern German city of Ulm. Jewish and non-Jewish classmates recall their childhood in Nazi Germany.
