Edmiston-directed play wins Globe rave

"In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play)," a play directed by Scott Edmiston, won a rave review in the Boston Globe, whose critic said the Brandeis Office of the Arts director "illuminates the intriguingly variable moods of Sarah Ruhl’s play" and "expertly finesses Ruhl’s tricky balance of shadow and light." In the cast are three other people with Brandeis connections -- Marianna Bassham MFA'02,  Lindsey McWhorter MFA '08 and Anne Gottlieb, a scholar at the Women's Studies Research Center.

"There’s an alternating current that runs through SpeakEasy Stage Company’s superb production of 'In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play),'" the Globe reviewer wrote, "and it doesn’t only have to do with the electrical device slyly tucked into that parenthesis."

The play runs through October 16 at Roberts Studio Theatre, Boston Center for the Arts. Tickets are $30-$55. For information, call (617) 933-8600.
