Temporary parking changes in effect Tuesday for returning students

Upper class undergraduate students will move into their residence hall assignments on Tuesday, Aug. 28. The Department of Public Safety urges all members of the community to exercise extra caution on campus roadways and paths due to the increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The following temporary parking and traffic changes will be in place to accommodate the student move-in process:

  • The lot between Slosberg Music Center and Shapiro Admissions Center will be closed to faculty and staff all day Aug. 28. Students moving into the Village and Ridgewood A Residence Hall complex will be using this location as an access and staging point. Faculty and staff may park in the rear of the Theater Lot, behind Spingold Theater.
  • The section of the Theater Lot closest to Ziv Quad also will be closed to faculty and staff on the 28th. Students moving into Ziv Quad and Ridgewood B&C will be using this section of the Theater Lot as an access and staging point. Faculty and staff may park within the rear section of the Theater Lot, as well as in the South Residence Lot, located one level below from the Theater Lot. Faculty and staff who park in the Theater  and South Residence  lots on the 28th will only be able to exit via the roadway leading down by the side of the Epstein Building to South Street. Vehicles will not be permitted to exit through the Theater Lot throughout the student move-in process, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The left side of the North Road by Cable and Reitman Hall will be closed. Faculty and staff may park in the Tower Lot on that date.

Public safety officers and  and traffic monitors will be assigned to assist with parking and traffic. Questions or concerns may be addressed to Edward Callahan, director of public safety, at extension 6-4240 or via email at ecallaha@brandeis.edu.
