'Escape From Happiness' runs through Sunday

Brandeis Theater Company performs first production of season

Audiences have five chances this week to see second-year M.F.A. students from the The Brandeis Theater Company perform in playwright George F. Walker’s “Escape From Happiness.”

The dark comedy revolves around the dysfunctional Quinn family, which battles drugs, violence and police corruption. Doug Lockwood, a founding member of the Actors’ Shakespeare Project and a Boston Conservatory acting teacher, will direct.

Tickets are available for $20, ($15 for the Brandeis community and seniors, and $5 for students) for shows in the Laurie Theater Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20; $15 for the Brandeis community and seniors; $5 for students.
