Soros Fellowships

Every year, The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States.

A New American who is 30 or younger as of the application deadline, and who is pursuing a graduate degree full-time in the United States in the 2020-2021 academic year. Applicants may apply to the Fellowship at the same time that they are applying for graduate school, or after they are already enrolled in graduate school. 

Varies depending on applicant’s choice of graduate program

Each Fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in stipend support (not to exceed $40,000), as well as 50 percent of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for two years. The first year of Fellowship funding cannot be deferred.

Online application. Confirmation of eligibility. Resume. Two essays. Transcripts. Scores of standardized tests already taken. Recommendations (3 required, up to 5 accepted). Optional exhibits.  

Campus Deadline:
October 2019

Final Deadline:
November 1, 2019

Finalists will be notified in late fall if they have been invited to interview in January/February of 2020.
