The goal of Advocates for Health is to help connect Brandeis students with health-related volunteer opportunities in order to minimize health care disparities within the Greater Boston Community. Students will volunteer with CareOne, a skilled nursing facility in Newton. Students will support residents at CareOne and will work improve the patient experience by planning activities and interacting directly with patients. Students will volunteer with Healthy Waltham, a local nonprofit, to improve food access to underserved populations in Waltham. Students will also volunteer with The Family Van, which is a mobile clinic which presents students with the opportunity to take part in health screenings serving underrepresented populations. Additionally, Advocates for Health will organize regular one-time volunteer opportunities with various other healthcare nonprofits in the Boston area. As Advocates for Health grows, we hope to offer more volunteer opportunities within the healthcare field. Finally, Advocates for Health will serve as a resource for all Brandeis students looking to volunteer independently in the field of healthcare, helping students find and choose volunteer opportunities that are right for them.
