Perry M. Traquina ’78

Perry M. Traquina is the former Chairman, CEO, and Managing Partner of Wellington Management Company LLP; a position he held for a decade until his retirement from the firm in 2014. Wellington is a global investment management firm headquartered in Boston. During his 34-year career at Wellington, he was an investor for 17 years and a member of the management team for the other half of his time at the firm. The son of immigrants, Perry attended the London School of Economics, received his BA in economics and American studies from Brandeis University, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and his MBA from Harvard University. He currently serves as a director on the corporate boards of Morgan Stanley, eBay, and Allstate. He is an emeritus trustee of Brandeis University, a trustee of the Winsor School and the Steppingstone Foundation, and an advisory board member of the Morgan Stanley.

Rezo Kanovich is a managing director of Artisan Partners and the sole portfolio manager for the Artisan Non-U.S. Small-Mid Growth Strategy. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in October 2018, Mr. Kanovich was a portfolio manager at Oppenheimer Funds for the International Small-Mid Cap Strategy from January 2012 through September 2018 and was an analyst for the Global Equity Strategy for six years before becoming a portfolio manager. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kanovich was an analyst at Boston Biomedical Consultants, an investment banker with the Lehman Brothers mergers and acquisitions team and a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Kanovich holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in international economics and finance from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in business administration, dual concentration in finance and health care systems, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Daniel Jick is a founder and chief executive officer of HighVista Strategies, an investment firm that specializes in endowment-style portfolio management. At Brandeis, Jick was an alumni term trustee from 1997 to 2001; the reunion gift chair for his 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th reunions, a member of the Brandeis Annual Fund Executive Committee from 1995 to 1996, and member of the Brandeis Boston Business and Professional Network. He is the vice chair for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Foundation Board as well as chair of the Board of Managers Investment Committee. Jick received his BA at Brandeis University in 1979 and his MBA at Harvard Business School in 1981.

Robert Brown '88, MA'89

Robert Brown '88, MA'89

Rob is the Chief Risk Officer and Head of Impact Research for Atlas Impact Partners. He has been an Economist, Research Director, and Portfolio Manager for 34 years on Wall Street. Prior to founding Atlas Impact Partners, he was Head of Research at JUST Capital, Senior Portfolio Manager for AllianceBernstein Equity Strategies, and Managing Director and Head of Equity Research for Nomura Securities International. Earlier, he worked at Morgan Stanley in various global senior leadership roles where he was last responsible for the Global Macro Research team. His passion for creating impact extends to the nonprofit sector, where Rob is an Executive Board member and Vice President of the READ Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board of The Brandeis University International Business School, and Chairman of the Board of The InHEIRitance Project. He is a member of the investment board of the Michael Price Fund at New York University and a former member of the investment committee for the endowment at Brandeis University. Rob lectures on issues of impact measurement and metrics and data standards at Columbia University Business School and is a member of the Academic Advisory Council for the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment. 

Rob earned a BA, cum laude, in Economics and an MA in International Economics from Brandeis University, with joint course work in econometrics at the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics at Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.

David Magid '08

David Magid '08

David Magid joined Kennedy Lewis in 2020 and is a Managing Director focused primarily on investments in the Industrials sector. Mr. Magid was formerly a Senior Vice President at York Capital from 2013 to 2020. He was responsible for sourcing and managing special situation and distressed investments across public and private markets. Mr. Magid began his career as an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse in the Leveraged Finance Origination & Restructuring and Debt Capital Markets Groups.

Mr. Magid received a BA in Economics and Politics from Brandeis University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Prospects and clients include: central banks, sovereign wealth funds, government agencies, financial institutions, supranational entities, corporate treasuries, and pension fund managers. Joined Western Asset Management's New York office in 2007 to develop the firm's institutional business in Latin America (ex-Brazil).

Lead the relationship management effort with the representative offices of select official institutions in New York and Washington, DC.

Organize Western Asset's annual client seminar in New York, attended by senior members of high profile institutional clients.

Pia is a Senior Managing Director and the Global Head of Cash Management at SSGA. She manages a team of portfolio managers and credit research analysts globally with about $450 billion in assets under management across all Cash strategies. She has over 20 years of credit and investments experience.
