Mitch Tyson

Mitch Tyson, principal at Tyson Associates, is an experienced high tech executive, entrepreneur, angel investor and lecturer. He serves on multiple corporate, non-profit, governmental boards and advises early stage companies.

Mitch is a former CEO of tech and cleantech companies and currently serves on 5 corporate boards including public, private and VC backed companies. He is a venture partner at the Clean Energy Venture Group which provides seed capital and management expertise to early stage clean energy companies and mentors start-ups in a number of area accelerators.

He is co-founder of the New England Clean Energy Council, chair of the Venture Café Foundation, board member of Greentown Labs, Acadia Center, New England Israel Business Council and the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action. Mitch also advises the Asper Center for Global Entrepreneurship at Brandeis and the Impact Entrepreneur Center. He also serves on the Investment Advisory Board of the Mass Technology Collaborative.

He has been an adjunct professor at Brandeis International Business School and since 2011 has taught the course on Corporate Sustainability. He also lectures on Customer Discovery at area universities and accelerators.

In 2008 he was named a Mass High Tech All-Star for his leadership in the clean energy sector. In 2017 he received the “Decade of Influence Award” and in 2019 he was given the Clean Energy Hall of Fame Award by the Northeast Clean Energy Council.

Previously, Mitch served 14 yeas as a member of the executive committee of the Mass Tech Collaborative and chair of the state’s Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative.

Mitch was previously CEO of PRI Automation, a $300M publically traded semiconductor automation company, and CEO of Advanced Electron Beams, a VC-backed clean energy company.

Earlier he was energy and science advisor to U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas. He has a BS in Physics, an MS in Nuclear Engineering and an MS in Political Science, all from MIT.
