Estimated Additional Expenses

Please see estimated additional expenses for the MSF program starting in Fall 2024. Actual costs may vary based on a student’s own situation and selected housing option. Students who will be completing an internship or field project in the summer will need to estimate additional living expenses for these months. For students in 3 semester or 4 semester programs, we recommend assuming a 3-5% increase in these estimates for the subsequent academic year.

Medical Insurance

Each year, all full and 3/4 time students must enroll in the qualifying School Health Plan (SHP) or waive the plan and report their own comparable health insurance coverage. All international students at Brandeis are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance. Medical insurance is charged each fall and covers the student for a full year. For students starting in the spring semester, the Semester 1 charge will be prorated. Students who do not need medical insurance for the remainder of the year after graduation may request a refund for a portion of the insurance through the insurance company.

Employment Opportunities

Students may apply for on-campus jobs at the start of a program, and may apply for Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant positions after being enrolled in their program for at least one semester.

Additional Scholarships

There are a limited number of merit-based and need-based scholarships available to students currently enrolled in programs. Students may apply for these awards in the spring semester of their first year of the program.
