My experience on the Industry Trek to New York City was nothing short of amazing!

Our student group visited BlackRock, HSBC and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. The two-day trek was a game-changer and I’m excited for the opportunity to apply the many insights I learned in my future career in the finance world.

This incredible trip is sponsored every year by the Career Strategies and Engagement Center at Brandeis International Business School. I’m truly grateful to the dedicated CSE team for making this experience possible.

Throughout the trek, we established meaningful connections with the seasoned professionals working at top-tier finance firms — including many Brandeis alumni! This valuable examination of working in the finance industry gave me a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to excel in this competitive field.

I learned that attention to detail, adaptability to market fluctuations and effective communication skills are paramount. Witnessing the fast-paced environment first-hand at the firms we visited and the importance of staying up to date on financial trends underscored the need for continuous learning and flexibility.

The alumni networking event was a highlight of the trip. I used this opportunity to forge lasting connections with many of the Brandeis alumni working in New York City finance. These professionals generously shared their career journeys and offered great advice on how to navigate the industry. It was inspiring to see so many successful Brandeis alumni continuing to support their alma mater through this mentorship.

The insights and connections I developed during this Industry Trek have significantly enhanced my preparedness for the job market. My new knowledge of the inner workings of finance companies and the guidance I’ve received from alumni and industry professionals has given me a competitive edge.

I now have a clearer sense of the roles and responsibilities within the finance industry, which will undoubtedly assist me in targeting the right opportunities and presenting myself as a well-informed and motivated job candidate.

The Industry Trek to New York City represents a pivotal step in my career development, and I’m excited to see how it will shape my future endeavors in finance.
