Job Shadowing
Brandeis at Work: Job Shadowing gives students the opportunity to observe professionals in real-world settings and learn about careers firsthand. Brandeis alumni and non-alumni partners are welcome to host. There is no cost to participate. As a host, you can welcome one or more students to shadow you virtually or in person for a few hours, a half day, or a full day on a schedule that works best for you.
For many students, this may be their first professional experience. You’ll have the opportunity to model workplace expectations and help them understand what it takes to succeed. Undergraduate students from all majors and class years are eligible, and many use the experience to explore fields beyond their academic focus and gain broader insight.
Benefits for Hosts
Support students as they explore careers
Share insights about your field and workplace
Identify future internship or job candidates
Build visibility for your organization on campus
Strengthen your relationship with Brandeis and Hiatt
Fall 2025 Dates
Job Shadowing will launch in the Fall of 2025. Hosts are invited to meet one or more students for a virtual or in-person job shadow experience, lasting a few hours, a half day, or a full day - whatever best fits your schedule between September 29 - November 21. Hosts may sign up for one or more available dates. While we strive to make thoughtful connections, students are not guaranteed, so we encourage hosts to offer multiple time slots.
Job Shadowing Examples
You can customize the experiences based on your role and work environment. Students might be looking for networking opportunities, learning how their major could be leveraged in your industry, or learning skills needed to be successful in your industry.

Apply
Connect with Jason Leturmy, Senior Assistant Director, Experiential Programs. Then you'll complete the interest form, select the dates and number of students you can accommodate, and identify a point of contact. Begin planning activities that will create a meaningful experience for both you and the students.
Connect
Hiatt will promote your opportunity to students and coordinate connections based on your availability and their interests. While we aim to make thoughtful connections that align with a student’s career goals or major, we also value hosts who are open to working with students who are still exploring their options.
All current undergraduate students in good academic standing are eligible to participate. If no students apply for your opportunity, you may not receive a connection during a given cycle.
Host
Before their shadowing experience, students will meet with a career team staff member to help them prepare. Students are expected to arrive on time (responsible for their own transportation), dress professionally according to your company standards, and stay actively engaged, taking notes, asking questions, and participating fully throughout the experience.
Review
Hosts will be asked to complete a brief evaluation form following their participation. Your feedback helps us improve the program and demonstrate its impact across the Brandeis community.
