Brandeis Moodle Communities
Brandeis Moodle Communities is a Moodle environment where Brandeis community members can host classes that are not tied to the official Registrar's catalog of courses.
Moodle Communities has five categories of course types:
- Practice Courses (for faculty & staff)
- Professional Development & Training
- Student Services
- Academic Groups & Programs
- Committees & Administrative Groups
Practice Courses
Faculty and staff initially receive two practice courses (sandbox). Faculty and staff can use these practice courses to decide how to structure their for-credit courses in Brandeis Moodle Courses and to experiment with Moodle features without students present in the course environment.
While all faculty and staff receive two practice courses by default, they can also request additional courses in the following categories as needed.
Professional Development & Training
Courses in this category will help employees learn new skills, maintain certificates or licenses, or review University-required modules (such as security training). Some examples of professional development include: on-the-job training, orientation programs for employees, workshops, and training material for a protocol or process.
Student Services
Student Services courses are created by faculty and staff to enhance student support and engagement. Use this space to host interactive workshops and forums for students on various topics, including orientation, placement tests, toolkits for departments, and student events hosted by your department.
Academic Groups & Programs
Use this category to design courses or workshops to create collaborative and resourceful environments for faculty and staff. Collect and organize materials to share material for use by faculty, staff, and students across multiple disciplines. Use Moodle's tools to share and host resources and materials with guest lectures or visiting scholars, create pages to host conferences and provide a centralized location for schedules, materials, and networking opportunities, and develop spaces to facilitate collaboration with other institutions.
Committees & Administrative Groups
Designed to support the collaborative efforts of faculty and staff involved in committees and other administrative groups, use this category to create dedicated areas for your committees and groups to share documents, updates, and other important information.
