How exciting to realize that our 50th Reunion is just a few months away! It seems like only yesterday that we said goodbye to our Brandeis days and began the journey we sometimes refer to as “real life!” I encourage all of you to return to campus for what is sure to be the celebration of all Brandeis celebrations for the Class of ’62. Nostalgia notwithstanding, the reality of reconnection at this stage in our lives is sure to prove remarkably gratifying. I look forward to seeing you at the 50th! Fern (Davis) Cohen and Hersh Cohen are chairing the 50th Reunion committee. They urge all of our classmates to join the committee in order to make this milestone event meaningful for everyone. For more information on how you can participate, please contact Fern or Hersh

Political leaders and scholars gathered in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 20 to celebrate the achievements of former Congressman Stephen Solarz and mark the publication of his memoir, “Journeys to War and Peace.” Congressman Barney Frank, Brandeis President Fred Lawrence, and scholars Norman Ornstein and Robert Dallek participated in a symposium, “Looking Back, Thinking Forward: Reflecting on the Career of Steve Solarz and the Foreign Policy Challenges Ahead.” Solarz, a nine-term congressman from New York, died on Nov. 29, 2010, following a battle with esophageal cancer. Ruth Crispin is a professor of Spanish at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
