Peter Krauthamer was nominated by President Barack Obama to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He serves as deputy director for D.C.’s Public Defender Service, where he manages a staff of about 220 people, including 110 attorneys. Peter began his career as a staff attorney at the Public Defender Service in 1983. From 1995–2000, he was an assistant professor at Howard University School of Law. Joseph Carter is a judge in Dakota County, Minn., south of the Twin Cities. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, he was appointed by Gov. Jesse Ventura in 2001 and elected in 2002 and 2008. Before becoming a judge, he was the chief public defender in the state’s first judicial district. Bruce Breit was installed as president of the Florida Obstetric and Gynecologic Society at the organization’s annual meeting in August. As president, Bruce will provide leadership for the nonprofit association, which represents more than 1,000 physician and resident members in Florida, and provides continuing education for health-care professionals to advance patient care in the area of women’s health. Bruce serves as vice president of Women’s Care Florida in Winter Park, where he has been on staff since 1988. He is the former chief of staff for obstetrics and gynecology at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
