Construction reminder: New residence hall site work begins Monday, June 23
June 16, 2025
This is a friendly reminder that active site work for the new residence hall project will begin this coming Monday, June 23. The initial phase will involve the mobilization and staging of heavy equipment within the South Campus Residential Lot (X Lot) and portions of the adjacent Theater (T) Lot. As previously shared, the X Lot is now permanently closed, and approximately 100 spaces in the T Lot are offline for the duration of the project.

Designated construction zone
A few important reminders as work gets underway:
Plan ahead for arrival and departure
All employees, students and visitors should allow extra time when arriving or departing campus, especially during peak morning and afternoon hours. Delays may occur as traffic patterns shift to accommodate equipment deliveries and contractor vehicles moving throughout campus.
Electrical vehicle charging unavailable
We plan to relocate the EV chargers within the Theater Lot (T-Lot) this summer to ensure they remain available for use. The goal is to have them back online by the start of the fall semester, or sooner if possible.
Increased contractor and delivery activity
Expect periodic large trucks, equipment deliveries and construction traffic in and around the site. Please use extra caution when driving or walking through parking areas near the Theater Lot, South Campus Road and Lower Admissions.
Pedestrian safety
Remain alert while walking through parking areas. Temporary pedestrian walkways will be marked, and some routes may shift as the work progresses. Do not enter any fenced or designated construction zones.
Parking adjustments continue
Reassigned parking remains in effect. X Lot permit holders have been relocated to the J Lot off Angleside Road, and overflow parking is available in the North and Tower Lots.
The new residence hall project represents a major investment in campus life. We appreciate everyone’s continued patience and flexibility as this important work moves forward.
