Microcredentials at Brandeis Online are abbreviated, skill-specific credentials that demonstrate expertise in a particular area. They're also competency-based, which means each badge is awarded based on demonstrated mastery of a skill or area, not just completion of a course. So employers and network connections can feel secure in your new skills.

All Brandeis Online microcredentials are self-paced. This means that within 90 days students have 24/7 access to Moodle Communities to complete a selection of readings, assignments, and quizzes to learn the topic. Students are expected to complete the materials by themselves, unassisted. At the end of the course, materials are submitted for a pass/fail grade from a real grader.

Students should use a non-brandeis email to sign up for microcrfedentials. A neautral email, like the one you have attached to your LinkedIn, works best for Moodle Communities, so you can transfer your badge easier. Alumni who use their brandeis.edu email will have technical issues logging in.
Please reach out to ITS@brandeis.edu with tech questions.
When students submit their course for grading, and pass, they get sent a Certificate of Completion and link to download a digital badge, signifying their completion of the course and understanding of the subject. The student can upload this to LinkedIn, an online resume, and more.
