2022 PBK Ceremony FAQ

The 2022 Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday May 20 at 2 pm in the Spingold Theater. All are welcome to attend the ceremony - there are no tickets. Students being inducted have already been contacted and should arrive at 1:30 pm. Seniors should wear their caps and gowns; juniors dress nicely. Faculty participants will be wearing their academic regalia. The ceremony includes brief remarks and a presentation of certificates. It will last about 90 minutes.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I bring guests to the ceremony?
    Yes, any number of guests are welcome. There are no tickets.
  • Will the ceremony be live-streamed?
    No, we are excited to return to an in-person ceremony this year.
  • What should I wear?
    Seniors being inducted should wear their cap and gown. Juniors being inducted should dress professionally. Faculty will be in academia regalia.
  • What time should I arrive? 
    Doors open at 1:00 pm. Students being inducted should arrive no later than 1:30 pm so that you can be lined up by the ushers in preparation for your procession into the theater. Faculty participants should also arrive at 1:30 pm and go straight to the Green Room behind the stage.
  • Will I be inducted even if I cannot attend?
    Yes and your certificate will be mailed to you.
  • Are alumni welcome?
    Alumni are welcome to attend in the audience. We will not be able to recognize Phi Beta Kappa inductees from the classes of 2020 or 2021 as they have already had virtual award ceremonies.
  • Is the venue handicap accessible?
    The theater is accessible for audience members, but if you are someone who will be called to the stage, then you need to let us know in advance.
  • Will masks be required?
    Yes
