We seek to understand emergent behavior in driven and inherently out of equilibrium soft materials. The tools used are the framework of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, phenomenological macroscopic theories and numerical simulations at various scales, from microscopic (brownian dynamics) to macroscopic (numerical solutions to non-linear hydrodynamic equations).
