Keeping the Conversation Going

Mar. 17 2025

Dear Friends,

As you may have heard, the faculty voted overwhelmingly last week to go down the path of reorganizing our university, and creating new exciting and innovative academic programs for the rapidly changing environment of the global, digital, knowledge economy we live in.

Over the next few weeks, faculty & staff working groups will be formed to continue to iron out the restructuring plans, and faculty will vote on changes to their handbook to effectuate the restructuring. After the final approval of the Board of Trustees in late April, we plan to begin implementing the redesign and create four new units with academic deans, all reporting to the provost, by July 1, 2025.

As I am sure you can already tell, this is a huge undertaking and I am incredibly grateful for the members of our community, faculty and staff, who are volunteering their time to make it happen.

In the meantime, I plan on continuing to solicit feedback about these plans from staff and students in particular, whose voices and input will be essential to making this a success. I would like to invite you to attend a Town Hall with Joel Christensen, Sr. Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and me, we would like to hear your thoughts, and answer your questions.

  • For Undergraduate Students – March 31, 12-1 p.m. in Rapaporte Treasure Hall (Zoom option)
  • For Staff – April 2, 2-3 p.m. in Rapaporte Treasure Hall (Zoom option)
  • For Graduate Students –April 10, 3-4 p.m. in Schwartz 112  (Zoom option)

Additionally, we will continue to be in conversation with BUSAC, the Undergraduate Student Union, Graduate Student Association and Faculty Senate as we chart this exciting new course forward.

Sincerely,
