Carbon footprint dashboard
Definitions
Scope 1: Natural gas & oil used on campus; gasoline & diesel used in campus-owned vehicles
Scope 2: Electricity from the grid
Scope 3: Everything else
Faculty, staff and student commuting: estimated based on Brandeis' bi-annual MA Rideshare survey
Directly financed air travel: estimated based on purchasing records of faculty, staff and study abroad air travel
Electricity distribution losses: electricity that is "lost" in the process of transmission and distribution from the electricity generation units to end users
Campus carbon footprint by category (scopes 1 & 2)
Metric tonnes of CO2-equivalent (MT CO2e)
