Waste Diversion

Since fiscal year 2015, Brandeis has seen a dramatic increase in composting in our two dining halls and across campus through the efforts of the Office of Sustainability, Brandeis Hospitality and our facilities services team. 

Do you know?

  • All food scraps, both in the kitchen during meal prep and plate scrapings from meals, are composted in Lower Usdan and Sherman dining halls. 
  • Sherman's kosher plates are composted.
  • As of January 2019, we are also committing to all-compostable tableware in our catering services.
